Who does not recognize the Recycle Symbol, the universally used and as timeless as the Coca-Cola and Nike marks? It was designed by the influential graphic designer and architect, Gary Andersen, then just a 23 year old student, for a contest to raise environmental awareness in Chicago, which he subsequently won. That was in 1970, and he probably didn’t own a Mac yet at that time, so the logo was drawn by hand with pin and ink.
